Digital Citizenship

Digital citizenship, also known as digital wellness, is the teaching and also understanding of the right use of technology such as the internet. Another definition suggests that DC(digital citizenship) is a reference to the people who use technology in order to engage matters such as society, politics , etc.

Nine Elements of digital citizenship

There are some elements, 9 in total, which make up the form of Digital citizenship and give the definition a body. Those elements are:  

1.Digital Access: In order for someone to gain the title of a digital citizen, he must of course first have access to technologies and devices which have access to the internet. Most schools nowadays, have access to technology and are doing lessons on how to use it safely.

2.Digital Commerce: One of the abilities that users gain when involved in the digital world is the ability to know the fact that nearly all of the economy nowadays is handled by the use of the web, and the fact that not all online shopping centers are safe for the exchange of money with products.

3.Digital Communication: This element contains the understanding of social media such as facebook, twitter and such. Digital communication has a number of advantages that we use in our everyday life without understanding it. First advantage is that you can communicate with anyone without being affected by distance or position in the world; second advantage is that nowadays websites have given the possibility to ignore others through the privacy settings; third advantage and last of all, is that you have the possibility to work from home.

4.Digital Literacy: D.L is the knowledge of how to correctly use language to use browsers and to communicate with others on the internet.

5.Digital Etiquette: Knowing how to use the right language and behaviour on certain sites.

6.Digital Law: The respect of the law of digital citizenship while using the Digital Rights internet and interacting with others.

7. Digital Rights And Responsibilities: The set of the rights that digital citizens have such as rights of speech, privacy etc.
